"Lisboa" is our analog archive. A 40-page fanzine thats brings together a small collection of signs, storefront lettering, typefaces and logos found in the streets of Lisbon.
They are graphics traces of another era: hand-painted letters, improvised and unexpected compositions of typefaces, colours and sizes. ofter, they feature imperfect (sometimes naive) uses of space. They weren't designed with a conscious aesthetic intention, rather, thay came from a more direct, manual way of making things.
Lisbon is one of the European cities where many of these small graphics jewels still survive. Between tildes facades, weathered buildings and steep streets, these signs remain part of the city's everyday landscape.
This fanzine doesn't aim to enter the debate of whether the old is better than the new. It's a simply an attempt to observe, document and preserve a small grphic archive before it disappears from the streets.
